AWANA has been a staple ministry of FBC for many years. God has richly blessed many children through this ministry and we are richly blessed to serve in this program. Here is the who, what, when, where, and why for AWANA.
Who ~ AWANA is for school-aged children starting at age 3. AWANA is broken down like this:
- 3-5 year olds are in Cubbies
- k-2nd grade are in Sparks
- 3rd – 6th grade are in Truth & Training (T&T)
What ~ Time is divided three ways. There is a game time where kids release some energy and have some fun. In counsel time, children are encouraged and challenged from the Bible by one of our main teachers. Handbook time gives children a chance to work in their handbooks and recite memory verses to their listening leader.
When ~ AWANA takes place every Wednesday during the school year at 6:15pm. Please check our calendar for the actual start and end date as well as other Wednesdays we don’t meet that are near holidays or other special events.
Where ~ All AWANA ministry takes place at First Baptist Church located at 670 W. Broadway Ave in Medford right next to Memorial Hospital. Cubbies and Sparks meet downstairs in the church and T&T meet upstairs.
Why ~ If we are going to have children who love God and others, we need to be purposeful in our attempt. Hundreds upon hundreds of people have begun life well through the AWANA ministry of First Baptist Church. Secondly, we adults could use some help. It is the parents responsibility to train children, but we need help. We want to offer that help through AWANA.
