Elevate Mission Team Heads to the (New) Kitchen for the Easter Breakfast

By: Pastor George Myers

Mission trip planning for Elevate Youth (9-12th grade) is in full swing, and part of that planning is doing some fundraising. Around 18 teens and leaders are preparing to head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for our summer mission trip. Philadelphia is Pennsylvania’s largest city and the sixth-largest city in the United States. Philadelphia has been at the center of America’s history—the signings of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution took place in the city in the 1700’s. Philadelphia is known worldwide as a hub for education, with many college and universities inviting tens of thousands of college students to the area each year. The city is also known for its economic power, with many large companies setting up headquarters in the nearly 400 high-rises that make up downtown Philadelphia. But it’s also America’s poorest major city, with over a quarter of its residents living below the poverty line.

Elevate has the opportunity to partner with Trinity Community Church in the Philadelphia suburb of Abington. Trinity is a new church that is growing along with the city, and our youth group will be able to serve the community by sharing the good news of the gospel through a daily Vacation Bible School, as well as assisting a pregnancy resource center and a home for single mothers with various work projects. We will also be able to learn how God is moving and working in the city and to better understand the growing need for the love of Jesus to illuminate an area full of desperately needy people.

To that end, the mission team is raising funds through the Easter breakfast at FBC in order to go on this trip. From 8:45-10:30 am on Easter Sunday morning (April 1), the gymnasium will be open for a great breakfast served by our teens and leaders. The menu will be loaded with items like pancakes, sausage, fruit, muffins, and more; it will be a great meal for a wonderful purpose. Mark it down on your calendars for you and your family to support a great cause this summer. Donation baskets will be on each table; all the proceeds will go directly to supporting our Elevate mission team.
